We Can Sing in the Fire

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 18:1-6

Notice that in verses 1, 2, 5, and 6, God shows us He has a message for us to hear, learn, and to apply. What is the message? God can and will use something (or someone), who might be thought to be useless by some, and make it useful!

Friend, all of us have been “marred” in one way or another, and none of us are even close to being perfect, but God can pick up the broken pieces, fix the cracks, mold us, and shape us into something that will please Him.

I do not have to tell you for pottery to be made useful, it must first face the fire! Heat must be applied to purify the vessel before its intended purpose. Often though, as with many of us, when the heat is applied, the vessel cracks under the pressure.

I have a dear friend who was in Jerusalem and asked a potter, “What do you do with the cracked pottery? Is it thrown out?” The potter answered, “No, just because a vessel is broken, it does not mean that it cannot be used. The vessel is repaired and re-fired.” My friend then asked, “How do you know when the re-fired pottery is done?” To this the potter replied, “The repaired vessel is re-fired until it sings!”

You see, the potter mixes some clay with blood from a lamb to cover the impurities, and it is then placed into the fire until it SINGS! Folks, something happens when the blood is applied that causes a broken vessel to SING while facing the heat!

In like manner, when the blood of the Lamb has been applied to our lives, regardless of how impure and broken we once were, we can sing in the fire!!

Open Your Eyes

I believe the biggest enemy of the church today just might be discouragement. Some folks get down, tired, and low, even though God has proven Himself time and time again.
